For the past 2 days I had the pleasure of attending a producer retreat in Seasalter, Whitstable organised by Workers of Art and Map Consortium. As a time for reflection on what it means to be a producer, they gathered a group of producers based in Kent and further afield from festivals, studios, theatres and independents to talk, create, explore and support. We stayed at the wonderful Battery right on the seafront - waking up to this view and working with the sound of the waves in the background was a fantastic way to unwind, reflect and question our role as producers.
Each of us were tasked with giving a gift to the group - something that inspires and drives us. These gifts ranged from a verbatim sound piece to poetry on the beach and everything in between. A wonderful and diverse offer of inspiration. I'm really grateful for having this opportunity and whole-heartedly recommend taking a break to gather your thoughts. Map Consortium will hopefully offer this again and if they do I'll be sure to share the information. Now back to supporting some amazing artists, now with a clearer head, renewed energy and a notebook full of inspiring thoughts, Lx Comments are closed.
